ABS builds prefabricated floor decks and wall panels in the Chicago manufacturing facility and ships them to the construction site for installation by certified installers. I started with ABS at its inception. As marketing and sales director I was given the responsibility of creating the image for the company. I developed the brochures, business cards, letterheads and the mission statement. Additionally I analyzed the market for panelization and created a target market plan aimed at builders and developers in the Chicago metropolitan area. Developed a strategy to acquire new customers and provide a marketing budget to meet the sales goals that I projected. Communicate with vendors and sub-contractors to obtain pricing for ABS estimates. Produce material and window take-offs to send to material suppliers for quoting. Other responsibilities included developing procedures for the quoting process and creating forms for tracking jobs previously quoted and in progress. As additional sales associates were needed I conducted interviews, hired and trained them. Conducted weekly sales meetings and discussed with our representatives how ABS can provide solutions for problems that builders were facing. Schedule and provide informative presentations to architecture firms and local mid-sized builders. Arranged for space at builder trade shows and designed the booth to most effectively communicate the process and service to the show attendees. Introduced ABS to several builder associations to gain respectability and visibility in the market place. My position initially was the Sales and Marketing Director, however after considerable sales were realized the focus rapidly shifted to overseeing operations. Appointed to C.O.O. January 1st responsibilities included communicating with the C.E.O. on a daily basis on the status of current projects. Other requirements; build process flows and procedures to facilitate more efficient operations, analyze and evaluate profit and loss on each project and make recommendations for improvements. Daily tasks include communicating with the C.G. Visions Co. which redraws the architectural prints into software. That process creates the panelization and shop drawings that manufacturing reviews and builds from. Research prospects for new material suppliers and sub-contractors and build working relationships with them to ensure quality workmanship and service. I work with the C.F.O. to open new vendor accounts. Review contracts with sub-contractors for proper liability insurance and performance guarantees and start and finish dates. Made frequent job site inspections before during and after installations. Although the companies potential is becoming apparent within the first year the lack of funds that were promised by the principals derailed plans to purchase automated panelization equipment. According to there business plan automation is essential for profitability. Therefore I have doubts that a sufficient amount of operating capital will be available for future growth. Superior Walls of Greater Chicago, Aurora IL Sales and Marketing Director 4/3/01 - 7/01/03 Superior Walls of Greater Chicago (SWGC) is a National company with franchise operations in 17 locations throughout the U.S.A. I was responsible for aiding in all aspects of start up operation for SWGC including the administrative procedures. Communicated with vendors, users and senior managers to resolve issues and translate concerns to the Auto Cad operator for correct fabrication. Evaluated worksheets and formulas specific to quoting projects. Researched, analyzed & documented business process flows, procedures & rules. Organized analyzed operations and helped conceive a detailed project plan. A main focus for the SW system was code compliance. Due to the SW system being relatively new to the area, a very concise record had to be kept to understand how to present the SW system to the various municipalities. Through research of their currently adopted code and amendments I could help the building officials understand how the SW pre-cast foundation wall system was compliant. A presentation to the city counsel was occasionally required to get amendments changed to allow this use of the SW system. Acceptance by the local building departments included educating Northern Illinois building departments on the SW system and answering technical questions that were often brought up. Also consult with the president of SWGC on sales and marketing strategies for the Chicago Metropolitan area. Scheduled the local trade shows, preemptive advertising and oversee the setup and operation of the booth. Compiled lists of attendees for further qualification and future mailing. Contacted medium to large builders and architectural firms, offered lunch presentations on the SW system and reviewed plans for bid. Scheduled on site lunch presentations during installation and answered questions. Completed the take-offs from builder plans, loaded information into Excel spreadsheets, presented the quote, and coordinated the various sub-contractors prior to SW installations. Inspected sites prior to installation and made recommendations as to crane and trailer locations. Provided final inspection of the SW system upon completed installation and provided warranty documentation to the buyer. The plant began production in March 2002 – Superior Walls of Greater Chicago had sold, fabricated and installed over 125 foundation systems as of January 2003 at an average of $12,000.00 each. Premiere Woodworking Concepts, Barrington, IL Sales and Marketing 1998-01 Hired to improve market share in the interior trim and custom cabinetry sales to builders. Responsibilities included, interviewing and hiring sales personal, assigning weekly goals and providing quarterly forecasts. Additionally tracked builder projects through Dodge Reports and other reporting agencies to bid their projects. Builders were contacted and shown the products and services offered by appointment. Responsible for plan take-offs and researching wholesale pricing. Their expectations in the commercial cabinetry sector were met and exceeded to the point that Premiere Woodworking moved to a larger location and continued to hire employees. Eventually reached a sales ceiling limited by the vision of the owner. Preferred Cabinet and Millwork, Barrington. IL Owner 92-00 Started the company in a garage with less the $5000.00 in start up money. I acquired contracts to build custom cabinetry, initially from local interior designers and small builders. The company quickly outgrew the garage and moved to Cary, IL where PCM shared a 4000 sf. location with a countertop maker. 1 year latter PCM moved into a 2000 sf location. I had the responsibility of sales, quoting, payroll, hiring, manufacturing, delivery and installation. Preferred Carpentry and Remodeling, Barrington, IL Owner 83-91 Started the company by sub-contracting kitchen and bath remodel projects from several small local kitchen and bath companies. The business grew rapidly and hired on 5 employees. PCR installed kitchens, remodeled bathrooms and built room additions. I had the responsibility of sales, quoting, administration, payroll, hiring, manufacturing, delivery and installation. Mr. Build Co., Wauconda, IL 79-83 Responsibilities included securing a truck license. Picking up the company service truck at 5:30 am making sure that I was on the job before the other carpenters arrived. Also assembled and installed house components. Other duties included reading blueprints, layout for other carpenters and using skilled power tools.
